Bawanbuti Sari - The iconic 52 bootis



✎Reverberating with the rhythmic sound of looms, the regions of Nalanda and Gaya in Bihar -The town famous in ancient India as a centre of learning- supported thousands of weavers with their generated revenue, sustaining a major cultural industry. 

✎The Bawanbuti sari, perhaps based on the iconic 52 bootis (miniature motifs) woven on its body, was the favoured everyday wear in coarse counts and in finer counts, for special occasions.

✎Motifs created of Dots is a pure hand work and requires special skills, where artisans have to do needle work on the fabric and it takes day & half to complete one saree.
